Newcastle Beach Closed to Swimming Due to High Bacteria Levels

May 29, 2026

Bellevue Parks issued an advisory on May 20, 2026, warning residents to stay out of the water at Newcastle Beach due to elevated bacteria levels detected at the site.

The closure was announced in coordination with Public Health – Seattle & King County, which conducts water quality testing at public swim beaches throughout the region. Residents were directed to the King County website for testing dates, results, and information on alternative swimming locations.

No additional details were provided regarding the specific type of bacteria detected or when the beach might reopen. Water quality test results and updates are available at kingcounty.gov/swimbeach.
